After her 6-3, 6-2 victory over Luidmila Samsonova on Thursday in Wuhan, Aryna Sabalenka signed the camera with a smiling face googly.
In court, during the 75-minute meeting, world No.1 was the whole business, however.
Sabalenka fired 21 winners and lost only ten points in the service as she enabled to spend the No.20 world to extend its winning Wuhan to 19. The Great Champion four times did not face a resting point and made only 13 mistakes as it improved 4-2 against Samsonova and 58-10 in the season.
It was another staggering manifestation from a tennis power in its powerful prime minister.
“I’m super happy with victory especially against Liudmila – she’s a tough opponent, we’ve played many difficult matches in the past and I’m happy to close this match in the right groups.
“Really happy with the level I played today, serving well and turning well.”
Sabalenka has not yet lost in her four appearances in Wuhan. Its 19 consecutive victories in the Chinese city are more successive in the same WTA 1000 event after Serena Williams won 21 on the Rome on the 2012 and 2019.
The 27-year-old is offering her 10th WTA 1000 title in Wuhan this week, and the 22nd in general. She will face Elena Rybakina or Linda Noskova.
In her first match since the US Open win in September, Sabalenka had to gather to win her first round match, a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Rebecca Sramkova, but seems to be in full flight now. She extends her personal winning victory to nine wins, and reaches her 30th WTA 1000 quarter-final, which connects Serena Williams for the ninth on the list of all time since the format was presented in 2009.
In other shares on Thursday in Wuhan, Jessica Pegula withdrew 7-5 3-6 6-3, while Jasmine Paolini also advanced her riyadh hopes with a 3-6 6-1 3-1 win over Clara Tauson.
Katerina Siniakova brought American teenager Iva Jovic, 7-5, 6-3, while Laura Siegemund, Germany, became the fourth oldest Paleyr who reached a WTA 1000 quarter-final with a 6-4 7-6 (2) win over Magdalena Frech, Poland.
