Augusta, ga. – 18 nonsense pieces by weaving the bases of masters on Thursday.
1. Gary Player’s fast food satisfaction…
… It doesn’t seem to exist. But about an hour after his ceremonial shot, after the soon-90-year-old player received questions from the media, someone drew his attention: Kevin Van Valkenburg asked the last time he would have fast food. His answer, fully:
“Well, you don’t get to 90 like me if you eat a bunch of shit. I can tell you that. But that’s your choice. Everyone has a choice. I want to live at 100 because I love people. I love golf. I just love life.
“I have a new girlfriend – I’ve changed my life. What about him, at 90, finding a girlfriend? Tom (Watson) is not as old as me, but he has also found a new one. I will show you what, guys, you or your wife will die.
“So many people who happen and they worry so much that they don’t think they have to continue their lives. The biggest gift given to a man or woman is life. So my ambition is to reach 100.
“So I went to India and met a Gerontologist, and he gave me 11 things to work, which I adhere to. So I can lift dead tomorrow, but I’m giving it a hell.”
2. Bernhard Langer’s red would raise some eyebrows…
… If someone else would be wearing it. Red on top and red at the bottom? This is a LOT. But on the 40th anniversary of your red-on-red masters victory? This is a different story. it Hell yes. Bernhard Langer fired 2 over par. He is 67 years old. He looks great. He could make the cut.

3. Ken Griffey, Jr. He made a picture…
… Of Jordan Spieth and his daughter. A delightful photo! He took a host of other photos, too – because this is his job this week. Griffey is a photo enthusiast. He is a golf enthusiast. He is a sports enthusiast. Yes, we are talking THAT Ken Griffey. Plus he is calling at 5-something am every morning this week to shoot the masters.
Here is a delightful picture of Jordan Spieth and his daughter.
Who got it? Ken Griffey, Jr., who is in the country working the full week of masters as a professional photographer. pic.twitter.com/xwgubo5oqu

4. A player shot 90…
… And, surprisingly, he left me impressed. Things went a lot, a lot in the south for Nick Dunlap. He hit him in every body of water in Augusta National – many of them many times. He shot 90 in a day where many literally no one shot in the 80s. He is in the last place with 11. But he did not do the WD, not even when he was 11 years old for 12 holes. There is an honor in this.
Honestly? Nick Dunlap credit not to ask. Gotta will be seductive to say ‘back damage’ at 11 to 12 and peace. Some honor in the signature for 90, even if he is the last with 11 Pic.twitter.com/t3ord5nx0w

5. A player shot 65…
… And, less surprisingly, he left me impressed. Justin Rose made Bogey on No. 18 and STILL Runs from 3. When you do this, they don’t just ask you questions in the stable interview area – they attract you to the media center, with mahogany podiums and leather chairs. Does the rose not notice who follows it? No. But also yes.
“You notice Scottie (Scheffler) on the manager’s chart and you like it, this is a great start to her. You know, he will be tough from there for sure. How, you know this. But it doesn’t shake you or change what you are doing or affect you in any way.”
6. Scottie Scheffler was told…
… This, statistically, you need to be a lot within 10 balls after the first round to win. He didn’t care. But he is happy to be T2.
“I really don’t care what happened in the last tours,” he said. “I think at any time you approach you, it will be easier for you to win the golf tournament. This is a simple fact of the matter. You get down to a good start, statistically you will have a better chance to win the tournament.”
7. I couldn’t stop laughing
… In the response of Jose Luis Ballester for Peeing at Creek’s Rae. You would think that an amateur playing in his first round of masters and drawing attention to peeing on the most famous water body in golf while paired with world No.1 may be a little concerned about the whole situation. In the country?
“It was not at all shameful to me. If I had to do it again, I would do it again.”
8. Yasir al-Rumayyan was here…
… As confirmed by Josh Berhow. What does that mean? Who can say?! But the man who attracts the money wires for the Liv Golf is a noticeable presence at the club.
9. Jon Rahm seemed to want to catch…
… His driver on his knee, exiting 9. He did not do-it was more of a fake pump-but Rahm entered as the third favorite of the tournament and shot a disappointing 3-on 75. He has a hole to dig if he wants to fight for his second green jacket.
10. Victor Hovland had a scary explanation…
… For the massacre that came to no. 15. Patrick Cantlay was tall green and hit two pitch shots rolling over the green and in the water. The other players did. But not hovland.
“Just really difficult,” he said. “I hit a really beautiful kick and I was sure to target it really far away, away from the pin because you could easily hit a beautiful step in that green and just rotate in the water, which I’m sure many boys did today.
“So I made sure to hit a gentle high and just keep it really left, and even then turned back.
Hovland said this is the strongest he saw this golf course on Thursday.
11. Last year’s runner …
… He worked his way immediately in the mix. Ludwig Aberg was even equal to 11 holes. He was four under 18 holes. Hello, Ludwig.
12. The most surprising ejection of the day…
… It came from Russell Henley and Sepp Straka, two fashion choices that enter in excellent shape. You can add some others to this list, such as Jon Rahm or Adam Scott. We will see more ejections on Friday – the day cut. But because there is so much superiority in this tournament, it is always a little annoying to see the boys who are completely out of it after only 18 holes.
13. Bryson Dechambeau coach…
… It seems safe. Dana Dahlquist was standing behind the verse, waiting for his player while I went inside. He said he expects his player to win the tournament “with a gang”.
14. Thursday of Fred’s couples…
… It was just wild. The lands are 65 years old. He is the second oldest player in the field. He rolled into a stroke from green to no. 1 and he tried with a hybrid at No. 14 for Eagle. He is one under the par. What a player. What country. What sport.
15. Player no. 1 of the world of Phil Mickelson …
… It started better than it was over. Joaquin Niemann was three under five through five holes. He was even equal to 18 holes. It is well within the striking distance – closer than Mickelson, who shot 3 above. The Liv Golf contingent is led by Dechambeau and Hatton in T5. But they have companies in Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson (T11) with Sergio Garcia (T27).
16. Patrick reed was not amazed…
… By its placement. With everything, indeed. “Piss-poor,” he said, sought to describe his day. “Very simple. Hit well, lost it to the wrong points and was placed as a blind.”
17. RORY MCILROY FROM
… It was the worst show of the first round horror I have ever seen. O boy. I was walking with my colleague James Colgan for those recent holes Rory Mcilroy and Wow – what gloomy scene. Mando man 30- and 40-something after his group had been raiding in the happiness of one first and no tribulation in the 14th, and then suddenly everything went wrong. The air was released from the balloon. It was as if everyone suddenly realized that they should not have eaten that extra egg salad sandwich after holding it around the sun all day. Not good.
18 I’m sitting in the media center…
… And Bryson Dechambeau is still hitting balls in the range. He shot 3 under first today. He is T5. He likes his position. So make a small piece of other players. The rest of the ’em? They have work to do.
