The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venue and dates for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. The event will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and will take place on November 24 and 25
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the venue of the Indian Premier League 2025 auction. Some reports claimed that apart from Saudi Arabia, the BCCI also looked at several options in London, Dubai and Singapore, but ultimately it was Saudi that got the nod ahead.
The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will come under the hammer
The Indian Premier League 2025 auction will undoubtedly be one of the biggest in the history of the league. This time all the teams have an increased purse as the purse has been raised from INR 100 crore to INR 120 crore, which is the highest in the history of the tournament.
All the franchises have listed their retained and released players and this time the auction will see some of the biggest names in Indian cricket. The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will go under the hammer in the IPL 2025 auction as their talks with their respective franchises failed to reach a conclusion.
As some franchises are in dire need of players who can captain the team, some major records are also likely to be broken. Some big overseas names in Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell and Jos Buttler will go under the hammer and Saudi Arabia will likely see history become a script.
A total of 1574 players will participate in the IPL 2025 auction
A total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) will be part of the IPL 2025 auction. Of the total number of players, 320 will be accomplished players, 1,224 unaccomplished players and 30 from Associate Nations. Also, since each team must fill its squad with a maximum of 25 players, a total of 204 slots will enter the competition.

Punjab Kings will enter the IPL 2025 auction with the biggest purse
Punjab Kings will go into the IPL 2025 auction with the largest remaining purse (INR 110.5 crore). For a total of INR 9.5 crore, they retained only two players – Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Rajasthan Royals have the smallest purse of INR 41 crore after retaining maximum six players along with Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR will have INR 51 crore to spend in the auction.
