1 MLB team to watch out for next season, analyst warns

The New York Mets made the postseason in 2024 after finishing second in the National League East with an 89-73 record.

Sneaking into the playoffs via the wild card, the Mets made a stunning postseason run to the National League Division Series with wins over the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers.

The Mets then stormed this offseason and signed top free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract.

MLB analyst AJ Pierzynski found that MLB should be careful with the 2025 Mets.

“To me, since the Phillies lost to the Mets and the Mets beat the Phillies, the Bigs are going to try to take the next step,” Pierzynski said, via X’s Foul Territory .

Pierzynski notes that Mets owner Steve Cohen got a taste of winning in 2024 and went out and signed Soto this offseason in an attempt to win it all next season.

Along with Soto, some of the Mets’ other signings this offseason included the addition of relief pitcher Clay Holmes, right-handed starting pitcher Frankie Montas and outfielder Jose Siri.

The Mets haven’t won the NL East title since 2015, but Pierzynski believes that since the Mets beat the Phillies in the postseason, they could have a shot at the Phillies in 2025.

While the Mets haven’t won a World Series since 1986, the addition of Soto and company would give them their best shot at a title in recent years.

The Mets will be a team to keep an eye on as the postseason progresses to see if they pursue more talent before the 2025 season.
