Tensions ran high during Salford City’s fiery home derby against Oldham Athletic, as the a group of local fans stormed the pitch to vent his anger on the club’s co-owner Gary Neville.
🎯 The Reds took all three points in a tight 1-0 win, with Daniel Udoh scoring the decisive goal, but the match was overshadowed by scenes of unrest in the stands and on the pitch.
⚽ The incident
Midway through the second half, a number of Salford supporters broke through the barriers and entered the pitch, holding banners and chanting against Neville.
Security personnel and police quickly intervened to restore order.

🔥 Why the anger?
The protest continues Neville’s recent controversial comments about “middle-aged white men” — comments that many supporters considered unfair and divisive.
Some fans have described the former Manchester United defender as a “traitor”accusing him of being out of touch with the very fans who helped build the club’s identity.
🗣️ Fan reactions
Outside the stadium, fans could be heard chanting “Neville out!” while others took to social media to demand that he retract his public and political comments.
X fans wrote:
“Gary used to represent the working class fan, now he despises us. It’s a betrayal.”
“They’re proving exactly Gary Neville’s point”
Three men have been arrested so far following the incident, police have confirmed.
